Building Bridges of Peace through Sustainable Community Tourism Development.

AIM AND OBJECTIVES

AIM

To foster African awareness and commitment to the social, cultural, environmental and economic benefits of Tourism and the role it can play in facilitating an environment of reconciliation and peace on the continent.

OBJECTIVE

To provide a forum of leading and creative decision-makers to discuss and develop practical mechanisms to facilitate initiatives that will contribute to:

Identification of directions and specific bridge building projects and programmes, including initiatives for internal co- operation towards socially and environmentally responsible rural and community based tourism linking developing and emerging economies, working towards:
The development of a 21st Century agenda for "African Peace Through Tourism" and
The establishment of an African body that will continue to promote "Peace Through Tourism "in Africa.
Presentation and discussion of "Success" and "Best Practice" projects which demonstrate the "bridge building" theme, throughout Africa and the possible duplication thereof.
