4th IIPT African Conference Announced at World Travel Market
The Conference will bring together senior executives from both the public and private sectors of tourism as well as donor agencies and related sectors including economic development, culture, sports, wildlife and the environment. In addition to featuring prominent keynote speakers and case studies of ‘Success Stories’/‘Models of Best Practice,’ Pre-Conference events will include three Forums: Educators Forum, Student/Youth Leadership Forum, and for the first time – a Traditional Leaders Forum. As well, the Pre-Conference Program will include half-day training workshops in selected topics. Uganda Minister of Tourism, Trade and Industry Hon. Daudi Migereko said,

STRATEGIC TOURISM INDUSTRY RESPONSE TO
IIPT brought together a panel of prominent industry leaders to share their views regarding “A Strategic Tourism Industry Response to International Terrorism on the ‘World Stage’ at World Travel Market, London. Panelists included: Roger Dow, President and CEO, Travel Industry Association of American; Elhamy ElZayat, Chairman, Egyptian Tourism Federation; and Sandie Dawe, Director, Strategy and Communications, VisitBritain. The panel was moderated by H.E. Senator Akel Biltatji, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan who had personally experienced the terrorist bombings in Amman a few days earlier. Panelists briefly indicated the actions taken in response to terrorist acts in their respective countries and stressed the important role that tourism plays as a powerful force for peace by helping us to understand and appreciate the diverse cultures, traditions and values of our global family. Roger Dow quoted Mark Twain who said, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” H.E. IIPT Launches World Peace Travel We are most pleased to announce the launch of World Peace Travel as a Travel Division of IIPT. The Aim of World Peace Travel (WPT) is to be a model of tourism that exemplifies the ideals and philosophy of IIPT's vision of promoting a "Culture of Peace through Tourism." Two tours are currently planned for 2006. Three tours are being planned for 2006. Two are indicated below and a third will be announced shortly. For More Information please contact: Muscat Festival Muscat, the capital city of Oman in the Arabian Gulf, is the focus of the first tour. In addition to the opportunity to see the spectacular sights of this country (mountains, canyons, sea and desert) the tour participants will be able to serve as hosts in the IIPT booth at the Muscat Festival interacting with the local population and other visitors to the Festival. The Muscat Festival is an annual event of Oman’s capital city. It is held in the evenings (in a park near the ocean) so that tour participants can spend each day sight-seeing and in the evenings, enjoying the festival and people of Oman. $2120 per person The cost includes: All transfers and portages; visa fees; two meals per day in Oman; sightseeing and entrance fees; all hotel accommodations (based on double occupancy) motor coach and driver and all guide services and entrance fees. However, our goals will go beyond seeing the sights. The itinerary will be planned so that there will be opportunities to meet and visit with Iranians.
